There is a last effort to save his life, he was placed on an ECMO machine. Muniz still needs to be on the life-saving machine as he needs assistance for his heart and lung to function. He is, however, COVID-19 negative as of now.
Despite being on the life support machine, doctors allowed the couple to tie their marital knot. Nurse Matt Holdrige learned about Muniz’s canceled wedding ceremony. After learning about this the idea of organising it in the hospital came instantly as said by Holdridge.
According to him, tending to a patient’s emotional need often assists in physical recovery. To keep his struggling patient fighting Holdrige knew that this wedding had to be done. According to the nurse in the days after Muniz came to know about the wedding plans in the hospital, his condition began to improve as well.
Holdridge even bought matching tuxedo t-shirts for the groom and himself and announced that he will be Muniz’s best man. According to the nurse, the hospital staff also needed the wedding ceremony as much as the couple.
In challenging times as such the wedding provided a ray of hope to the frontline workers.
Pictures and videos of the unique ceremony showed Grace walking through the hospital corridors in her white bridal gown.
Muniz even though in the hospital bed looked dapper in a black tuxedo t-shirt. Everyone including the couple was seen wearing their facemasks in the event.
