48-year-old man from Kiyamgei in Imphal East, who was admitted to RIMS Hospital on August 13, succumbs to COVID-19
Imphal: One more person succumbed to COVID-19 in Manipur on Sunday night, reports said. With this, the death toll due to COVID-19 in the state has reached 17.
As per reports, a 48-year-old man from Kiyamgei in Imphal East was admitted at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital on August 13. He succumbed to the virus around 8 pm on Sunday.
This was the fourth death due to COVID-19 reported in a single day. The deceased was suffering from multiple health issues, including chronic kidney disease, anaemia, hypertension and diabetes, reports said.
As on August 16, Manipur has recorded 4,569 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 2,632 infected persons have recovered and 1,921 are active.
The state health department, in a statement issued, informed that a majority of COVID-19 positive persons do not show symptoms or show only mild symptoms. And such cases do not require medical treatment at the hospital.
The state government will introduce home isolation for asymptomatic or very mild symptomatic positive cases that are willing to opt for home isolation, it said.
Minors below 10 years old or babies who are asymptomatic and pregnant woman where the expected date of delivery is at least one month and asymptomatic will be given priority for home isolation.
