Guwahati: Another 8 persons succumbed to COVID-19 infection on Monday, taking the state's death toll to 197.
Among the deceased, two are from Cachar, one each are from Tinsukia, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Udalguri and Kamrup rural district.
Informing about the deaths, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, "Demise of 8 COVID patients- Late Priyabrata Acharjee (64),T'kia; Late Upen Deka (60),D'ang; Late Banwari Lal Todi (69),D'garh; Late Jibon Roy (45), Late Mozibur Islam Hazari (57),C'har; Late Matiur Rahman (65),G'ghat; Late Junah Chetry (24),U'guri; Late Suren Mahanta (78),K'rup R."
So far, Assam has maintained one of the lowest rates of COVID-19 mortality. The state has 0.25%, as per the last update on Monday morning, which is 0.01% higher than the earlier weeks.
