50 new cases of COVID-19 detected -- 40 from Kohima, 5 from Zunheboto, 4 from Mon, and 1 from Dimapur; state tally touches 3,168
Kohima: A total of 50 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Nagaland on Thursday, taking the state's total to 3,168. Among the 50 new cases, 20 are from the armed forces, 28 are through traced contacts and two are returnees.
Out of the 20 armed forces, 11 are from Kohima, five are from Zunheboto and four from Mon. Twenty-seven traced contacts from Kohima and one from Dimapur also tested positive for COVID-19. The two returnees who tested positive are both from Kohima.
With the addition of the new cases, the state's tally now stands at 3,168. A total of 1,447 armed forces has so far tested positive for COVID-19 comprising 45.7% of the total positive cases in the state. A total of 1,117 returnees comprising 35.3%, 347 traced contacts comprising 11%, 203 frontline workers comprising 6.4% and 54 others comprising 1.7% have tested positive for COVID-19.
As per the district-wise distribution, 40 are from Kohima, five are from Zunheboto, four from Mon and one from Dimapur. Nagaland health minister informed that the new cases were reported out of 232 samples that were tested.
Taking to Twitter, health minister S pangnyu phom wrote: Update! 50 new +ve cases of COVID-19 have been detected out of 232 samples tested.
