34 new COVID-19 cases detected from general population in state today; of them, at least 27 do not have prior travel history to other states
Imphal: A total of 76 persons recovered from COVID-19 in Manipur on Wednesday, taking the state’s recovery rate to 56.02%.
Four of them were discharged from RIMS and another two security personnel from Central Armed Police Forces also recovered after treatment for COVID-19. The remaining cases were discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres of Meitram (23), Ukhrul (11), Thoubal (11) and RD Wing (25) after they tested negative on the RT-PCR test, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
Also, 41 new cases of COVID-19, including seven armed force personnel, were reported in the last 24 hours.
According to the health official, locally transmitted cases with no travel history outside the state have increased to over 900 in less than two weeks, causing huge concern among the public.
On Wednesday, 34 new cases were detected from the general population, at least 27 of them do not have prior travel history to other states. They were reported from Imphal West (13), Thoubal (6), Imphal East (1), Churachandpur (1), Noney (4) and Kamjong (1) districts.
The seven returnees belong to Kakching (3), Kamjong (3) and Noney (1), reports said.
All of them have now shifted to COVID-19 facility for further observation.
The total confirmed positive cases for the coronavirus is 3,982, of which 3,086 are from the general population and 896 are security personnel.
The cumulative numbers of 2,231 and 1,739 are recovered and active cases, respectively.
