Imphal: Another 88 persons, including 13 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), tested positive for the coronavirus in Manipur on Tuesday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 3,941 so far.
They were tested at VRDLs of RIMS (10), JNIMS (5), Babina Diagnostics (10), Imphal West Rapid Antigen Testing (50), Raj Medicity Trunat (2) and Shija Hospital (1).
Of the 75 cases from the general population, 73 of them have been found positive with no travel history to other states. They were reported from Imphal West (55), Imphal East (7), Bishnupur (4), Noney (3), Thoubal (2), Senapati (1) and Tamenglong (1) districts.
Meanwhile, one each from Imphal East and Kamjong districts are returnees from other states, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
All of the new cases have been shifted to COVID-19 care centres for further course of treatment.
In the past 24 hours, another 33 infected persons, including 20 security personnel, have recovered and were discharged. They were tested negative on the RT PCR test, the official said.
The recovery rate now stands at 54.68%.
Till date, as many as 2,155 persons have recovered after taking treatment and 1,774 remain active.
Of the cumulative number of recovered cases, 1,985 are from the general population and 170 are security forces. And also, in terms of the total active cases, 1,055 persons are from the locals and 719 belong to CAPF.
Earlier, a man aged 60 years from Imphal East district succumbed to the virus, taking the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 12 in the state.
