IN PHOTOS: Mismanagement in Tripura's premier GBP hospital exposed
Agartala: Pictures from Tripuras premier Govind Balabh Pant (GBP) hospital have surfaced showing unhygienic conditions inside the COVID ward.
The AGMC and Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital is the only state referral hospital which also has the lone dedicated COVID Hospital in the state.
Meanwhile, all attempts to get a reaction from the health department and officials turned futile. Nobody was available to make a comment over the matter.
Currently, the state has more than 100 beds for the treatment of serious patients on ventilation and 2,200 beds capacity to treat positive patients across the state in different COVID care centres. In comparison, the decision to extend the capacity to 3,000 beds was also taken recently.
The pictures shared by Tripura royal scion and chairman of The Indigenous People's Regional Alliance, Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman have now gone viral and are being widely shared over different platforms of social media.
Deb Barman also claimed that the elderly woman who was cremated as per the COVID-19 protocol was later tested negative. He also demanded an investigation over the matter by the state government.
“The biggest irony is that she was cremated in a bag and after her cremation the report came that she was negative. This delay did not even give her a dignified cremation in the end. I again request the state govt to investigate the matter”, he wrote.
