Nagaland registers biggest single day spike; 276 new COVID-19 cases detected

187 from Dimapur and 89 from Mon have tested positive on Tuesday. State's tally now at 2405

Kohima: In yet another biggest single day spike, Nagaland has recorded 276 new COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday which took the state's tally to 2,405. Out of the new cases, 187 are from Dimapur and 89 are from Mon.

Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that the new cases were reported out of 735 samples that were tested. He also mentioned that necessary contact tracing have been activated and that all primary contacts are under self isolation.

Taking to twitter, the minister wrote: "COVID-19 Update! 276 new +ve cases have been confirmed out of 735 samples tested. 187 from Dimapur & 89 from Mon. Necessary contact tracing have been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation."

With the addition of the new cases, Dimapur has reported a total of 1206 confirmed cases out of which 167 have recovered, 1032 are active, one has migrated and six are death cases. Mon district has recorded a total of 238 confirmed cases of which 39 are recovered and 199 are active cases.

Confirmed: 2405

Active: 1740

Recovered: 657

Death: 4

Migrated: 2

One each from Kohima and Dimapur have migrated to Rajasthan and Kerala. While six deaths have been reported from Dimapur, only four deaths are confirmed as due to COVID-19. One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to Covid-19. One death had co-morbidities and tested COVID-19 positive and the cause of death is still under investigation.

On Monday, nine persons recovered from COVID-19 slightly increasing the number of recovered cases to 657. All nine recovered cases were reported from Kohima district.

Out of 194 who tested positive on Monday, 33 were returnees, 113 were armed forces, 23 were frontline workers, 24 were traced contacts and one other. Overall, 979 returnees, 805 armed forces, 162 frontline workers, 150 traced contacts and 33 others have tested positive till Monday.

This distribution of the new cases which were reported on Tuesday could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
