Among the latest locally-transmitted cases, 51 are from Imphal West, 30 from Thoubal, 2 from Ukhrul and 1 from Bishnupur
Imphal: Cases of COVID-19 positive with persons having no travel history are continuing to surface in Manipur with 89, including 80 non-returnees, having found infected with the coronavirus on Monday.
Five of them belong to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and four are returnees, two each from Ukhrul and Thoubal districts, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
Of the total number of 2,920 confirmed cases for COVID-19 positive, 1,766 infected persons have recovered and another 1,147 people are currently undergoing treatment.
The latest local transmitted cases with no travel history are reported from the districts of Imphal West (51), Thoubal (28) and Bishnupur (1).
An intensive contact tracing and containment process have been carried out across the districts reported with fresh cases in the last 24 hours to determine the source of infection, especially those tested positive without prior travel history, as per the health official.
Also, in addition to the already recovered patients, another 29 were discharged from COVID-19 Care Centers (CCCs) of Meitram in Imphal East (21), Senapati (2), Churachandpur (5) and NIELIT Churachandpur (1) after they were tested negative on RT PCR test.
Recovery rate as on August 3 stands at 60.47 per cent, wherein the pandemic has already claimed seven lives in the state.
Earlier, chief minister N Biren Singh had inaugurated the 14th COVID-19 Care Center at Manipur Trade and Expo Center in Imphal East district to treat the COVID-19 patients. The newly inaugurated center has a 300-bedding capacity with separate blocks for girls and boys.
Speaking to media persons, Singh informed that there is evidence of local transmission in the state, however, he denied of community transmission started in the state.
Singh had also appealed for public support to fight against the pandemic and to come out openly for treatment if tested positive for the disease.
