Nagaland: COVID-19 tally hits 1,935 as 104 cases detected; 8 recover

Kohima: With 104 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, the total number of confirmed cases in Nagaland has soared to 1,935. This is the third consecutive day that the number of new cases reported in a single day has surpassed the 100-mark.

Minister of health and family welfare S Pangnyu Phom took to Twitter to inform that the new cases were reported out of 383 samples results that were received on Sunday.

Out of the 104 new cases, 62 are from Dimapur, 18 from Zunheboto, 17 from Kohima, five from Wokha, and one each from Mon and Phek. The health minister also informed that contact tracing has been fully activated.

Of the new cases, 69 are armed forces personnel, 19 are returnees, five are frontline workers and 11 persons are through traced contacts. Overall, a total of 946 returnees, 692 armed forces personnel, 139 frontline workers, 126 traced contacts and 32 others, which include cases related to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and patients excluding returnees, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, another eight persons recovered from COVID-19 on Saturday, increasing the number of recovered cases to 648. All eight fresh recovered cases are reported from Kohima.

The COVID-19 status in Nagaland as on Sunday is:

Confirmed: 1935

Active: 1279

Recovered: 648

Death: 4

Migrated: 2

One each from Kohima and Dimapur have migrated to Rajasthan and Kerala. While six deaths have been reported from Dimapur, only four deaths are confirmed as due to COVID-19. One death is COVID-19 positive but not due to Covid-19. One death had co-morbidities and tested COVID-19 positive and the cause of death is still under investigation.

As per the severity of symptoms, out of the 1,279 active cases, 1,277 active cases are asymptomatic, one active case from Kohima is mild symptomatic and one from Kohima is critical in ICU with oxygen.

While 406 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR on Sunday, the number of test results pending is 2,513. As for Truenat testing, 215 samples have been sent for testing on Sunday and a total of 140 test results are pending.

A total of 2,352 persons are currently under designated quarantine facilities and 3,799 are under home quarantine.
