Home minister Amit Shah tests positive for COVID-9 after he showed early symptoms of the coronavirus; admitted to hospital on doctors' advice

New Delhi: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday tested positive for COVID-19 and has been admitted to a hospital.

Taking to Twitter, the senior BJP leader said that he was tested after he showed early symptoms of the novel coronavirus. Although he's well, he got himself admitted to hospital on the doctors' advice, he tweeted.

He requested all those who came in contact with him to isolate themselves and get themselves tested.

Immediately after the news came to light, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery. "My good wishes for your speedy recovery Adarniya @AmitShah ji. With your resolute determination and strong will power you will soon come out of this," he tweeted.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, too, took to the micro-blogging site to wish him good health. "Our Prayers for speedy recovery, get well soon @AmitShah," he wrote.

Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb also prayed for his good health.
