Manipur reports 2nd COVID-19 related death at RIMS Hospital
Imphal: A 48-year-old man from Kangpokpi district, who was found positive for COVID-19, reportedly died at RIMS Hospital in Imphal early on Thursday, the second fatality in Manipur.
The patient passed away around 2:30 am on Thursday morning, said sources from the government.
As per reports, the deceased, who was a resident of Leimakhong, was admitted at Nephrology department at RIMS Hospital on June 8 due to chronic kidney disease with stage-V, lung infection and other health complications. He was later diagnosed with coronavirus on July 26.
Of the five in-patients who tested positive for COVID-19 at RIMS Hospital, two have already succumbed to the virus and three are undergoing treatment, as per reports.
Earlier, a 56-year-old man from Thoubal district, who was found COVID-19 positive while undergoing treatment for chronic kidney failure at RIMS, was declared dead on Wednesday. He was the first in the state to have succumbed to the virus.
However, an official statement from RIMS Hospital over the latest death is still awaited.
