Shillong: Meghalaya on Thursday reported 19 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of cases to. Of these, 13 are from BSF and three each from from West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills.
Addressing the media, health minister AL Hek informed that the state now has a total of 440 active cases. Out of these, 375 are from East Khasi Hills district alone (BSF: 281, Armed Forces: 14, others: 80).
Th district-wise break-up of COVID-19 active cases are as follows:
Ri Bhoi: 42
West Jaintia Hills: 5
East Jaintia Hills: 3
West Garo Hills: 15
South West Garo Hills: 4
South Garo Hills: 2
East Garo Hills: 1
So far, 30,571 samples have been sent for testing. While 2,726 samples were tested at Pasteur institute, 26,458 samples were tested at NEIGRIHMS and 1,887 in Tura.
So far, 28,967 samples have tested negative and 550 are awaited.
A total of 23,551 have returned to the state till date. The entry points in the state will be closed starting on Thursday and will be open only on August 1.
