Manipur: 55, including 12 with no travel history, test positive for COVID-19
Imphal: The total number of confirmed cases for novel coronavirus in Manipur reached 2,115, with 55 more persons, including 50 male and five female, testing positive on Thursday.
The number of active cases is now 655, and as many as 1,460 patients have recovered till date.
According to additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, at least 12 people belonging to Thoubal district with no history but having exposed to local contacts were detected positive for the virus. The remaining persons are returnees from other states, he said.
Also, another 12 security personnel belonging to Leimakhong Garrison in Kangpokpi also tested positive for coronavirus. Earlier, 63 personnel of CRPF training centre from the district had reported positive.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 31 cases were reported from Thoubal, 12 from Leimakhong Garrison in Kangpokpi, six from Imphal West, three from Kakching and one each case from Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul districts.
In view of cases being detected among few people who have no travel history, all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place to combat further spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, another 42 persons have been discharged from COVID-19 Care Centers of Meitram in Imphal West (27), Senapati (3), Kakching (3), RD Wing Lamphel (6), and Thoubal (3). They were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.
The total recovery rate in Manipur has now increased to 69.03%.
