Nagaland: 57 new COVID-19 cases detected; state's tally hits 1,087

Of the 57 new COVID-19 cases, 23 are from Dimapur, 18 from Kohima, 7 from Zunheboto, 5 from Peren, 2 each from Mon & Mokokchung

Kohima: Nagaland's tally for COVID-19 cases hit 1,087 on Wednesday morning as 57 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in the state. The new cases were detected from the 513 samples that were sent for testing.

Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom informed that out of the 57 new cases, 23 are from Dimapur, 18 are from Kohima, seven from Zunheboto, five from Peren, and two each from Mon and Mokokchung districts.

Taking to Twitter, Phom tweeted: "Update! Out of 513 samples tested, 57 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed. 23 in Dimapur, 18 in Kohima, 7 in Zunheboto, 5 in Peren & 2 each in Mon & Mokokchung".

Till Tuesday, a total of 19,118 samples were sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 18,246 samples have been received out of which 11,446 samples were tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and 340 samples were tested as positive. At the BSL-2 lab at the CIHSR, Dimapur, a total of 2,946 samples were processed and 285 samples tested positive.

In addition, a total of 12,664 samples were sent for testing on Truenat and 11,931 samples tested negative and 391 samples tested positive which were further sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 under the chairmanship of the chief minister is convened on Thursday at 11.00 am in the chief minister’s residential complex, Kohima to review the situation in the state.
