Imphal: In a significant landmark to fight against COVID-19 pandemic in Manipur, three districts of the state have now achieved total 100% recovery rate with zero mortality.
According to state surveillance officer, IDSP, Dr L Tomcha Khuman, three districts in the state — Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal — recorded zero active cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
Of the total 1,925 cases in the state, 25 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Noney, whereas Pherzawl and Tengnoupal saw at least 32 and 14 cases each. But all of them have now recovered and sent for home quarantine, it said.
Acknowledging the achievement, chief minister N Biren Singh said, “I congratulate each and every frontline warriors of Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal district of Manipur on achieving 100% recovery rate of COVID-19 patients today.”
The state government’s resolve and commitment towards fighting the COVID-19 pandemic has begun to pay off, he added.
Out of the 16 districts, at present, Kangpokpi has got the highest number of active cases with 126, followed by Ukhrul (109), Imphal West (74), Thoubal (63), Senapati (61), Tamenglong (43), Kamjong (36), Churachandpur (34), Jiribam (21), Kakching (18), Imphal East (15), Chandel (14) and Bishnupur (4).
On Monday, of the 14 fresh cases, at least 10 persons, including an attendant working at RIMS Hospital, detected positive for COVID-19 with no travel history. However, health officials confirmed that there are no reports of community transmission in the state yet and those locals infected with the coronavirus were either the frontline workers or family members of COVID-19 positive cases.
Currently, as many as 605 persons are undergoing treatment for coronavirus at various COVID-19 Care Centers and facilties and 1,320 cases have recovered. The recovery rate in the state is 68.57%.
