Imphal: Manipur government on Monday announced that those air passengers arriving at Imphal international airport in the state and unable to fly for their destinations are allowed to stay at the hotels listed under the home department for a self-paid quarantine.

According to the newly issued new standard operating protocols (SoPs) for air passengers, those transit passengers whose flight ticket has been confirmed but unable to fly due to non-availability of flight shall avail their stay at one of the four hotels in Imphal for paid quarantine for one night.

However, the passengers need to be asymptomatic and have confirmed flight ticket for the next day to fly out from the state, said state health director K Rajo Singh.

In case of symptomatic, test for COVID-19 on payment is mandatory during their stay in Imphal, it said.

Also, there will be no transportation arrangement to transport the passenger(s) from the airport to the hotel for a paid quarantine, but it will be self-manage, said Dr Singh.

Moreover, once checked-in at the hotel paid quarantine, use of face mask, frequent hand washing, social distancing and confinement in the hotel room is mandatory to avoid further escalation of COVID-29 positive cases in the state.

The driver of the vehicle shall dress in recommended PPE which should be self arranged, it said.

At present, there are four hotels being listed under paid quarantine centers, namely Hotel Imphal by Classic, Phoi-Oi-Bee Hotel, Hotel Tampha (old) and Hotel Tampha (new), all located at Kabo Leikai Nongpok at North AOC and the youth hostel at Khuman Lampak in Imphal.

The total number of confirmed cases is at 1,911 with no casualty and active cases are 676 and 1,235 patients have so far recovered and discharged from the hospitals.
