The former AGP minister and present BJP MLA from Dispur is getting treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)
Guwahati: BJP MLA from Dispur, Atul Bora, has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, said reports.
The legislator is said to have developed cough and mild fever on Sunday following which, he underwent COVID-19 test. Bora tested postive on Monday, following which, he has been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), said reports.
This comes a day after Sonari MLA Nabanita Handique tested positive for COVID-19. Also, on last Thursday, MLA Nabanita Handique's son Karanjyoti Handique was also tested positive for COVID-19.
Several other politicians and eminent personality from Assam have been tested positive for the virus, including MLAs Krishnendu Paul, Narayan Deka, Balin Chetia, and former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev.
As per the last update on Sunday night, Assam has 23,999 cases of COVID-19 of which 16,023 have been discharged, 7,916 are active, 57 deaths and 3 people have migrated to other states.
