Tripura registers biggest single-day spike with 171 new COVID-19 cases

With this, the state's tally soared to 2,668 cases, including 914 active cases and 1,735 recovered

Agartala: Tripura on Saturday registered the biggest single-day surge of new COVID-19 cases as 171 people tested positive for the coronavirus.

With this, the state's tally soared to 2,668 cases, including 914 active cases and 1,735 recovered. The state has also registered five COVID-19 related death.

Of the total 4184 samples tested on Saturday, 171 were found to be positive.

These include 146 samples that were found positive from antigen test, including 82 BSF personnel.

Taking to Twitter, chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb wrote, "171 People found COVID-19 POSITIVE out of 4184 samples tested. Among them 146 found POSITIVE in Antigen Test (82 BSF personnel included)".

"Unfortunately 2 COVID-19 patients died today. Among them one was patient of throat cancer & another person was patient of Hypertension", he wrote.
