Out of 433 RTPCR tests performed on 16 July, 29 samples tested positive, while 5 persons tested positive on Rapid Antigen Testing facility in Rangpo
Gangtok: 32 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the State. The total number of active cases now stands at 166, while the cumulative total has reached 254.
During his daily health bulletin, Dr Pempa Tshering Bhutia stated, Out of 433 RTPCR tests performed on 16 July, 29 samples tested positive, while 5 persons tested positive on Rapid Antigen Testing facility in Rangpo. Out of the 5 cases, two persons were security persons of a bank, bringing cash in van for ATMs. Both of them were sent back to Siliguri. The remaining three are admitted in the Isolation Ward of COVID-19 Hospital (STNM). With the two persons (Bank ATM staff) migrated out, the total cases reported in the State stands at 32.
Out of the 29 COVID-19 positive cases reported on RTPCR, 6 persons were workers of GREF Camp Rongli, 15 were the family members of the GREF workers, 1 person was reported from STNM Hospital Flu Clinic, while remaining 7 persons who tested positive were from SSB Camp, Yuksom. The 7 persons from SSB camp in Yuksom are admitted in the Isolation ward of Geyzing Hospital.
Health Department conducted an inspection visit of Rhenock, Rongli and adjoining areas to assess the situation and to finalize on the Isolation facilities to lodge asymptomatic cases. Officers interacted with health workers, police personnel and panchayats. Rhenock Senior Secondary School Girls Hostel was identified and approved as the ideal place to lodge asymptomatic positive cases, if the need arises. They would be provided treatment and care by the doctors and health workers of Rhenock CHC.
The team then visited Reshi check post to monitor the movement of vehicles and people. After that, they visited Rongli GREF Camp and Rongli PHC. Chujachen School was identified as the isolation facility where asymptomatic positive cases would be lodged and provided care and treatment, if necessitated.
