Random testing for COVID-19 to begin tomorrow after consultation with village councils, says deputy CM Prestone Tynsong
Shillong: Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the BSF campus at Umpling in Shillong, the Meghalaya government has decided to start random testing in the nearby areas of Rynjah-Umpling, Nongmensong and Mawpat.
Informing the media on Friday, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said, “Taking into consideration the spike of cases in the state and the hard work put in by the entire department of health, as well as the entire district administration. So we discussed how to make sure how the neighbouring area of Umpling BSF campus is totally safe. So today we have decided that from tomorrow Rynjah Umpling side, Nongmensong side which is adjacent to the campus and Mawpat village.”
The testing will begin on Saturday after consultation with the village councils (Dorbar shnong).
Tynsong informed that the meeting to be held on Friday with the dorbar shnong which will be led by the DHS, health minister and other officials.
The meeting at Nongmensong will be held at 10 am, Umpling 11 am and 12 noon at Mawpat.
