Arunachal: Sector C & F of Naharlagun declared COVID-19 containment zones

Development comes after 2 COVID-19 cases were reported from the sectors on Wednesday; both were detected outside quarantine centres

Itanagar: The F and C sectors of Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh have been declared as containment zones, making them the first such zones in the state since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

The development comes a day after two COVID-19 cases were reported from the sectors on Wednesday. As per health officials, both the cases were detected outside the quarantine centres.

The Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) had on Wednesday decided to close all its services until July 10 after one its health worker tested positive for COVID-19.

A branch of the Vijaya Bank was also sealed on Wednesday after a businessman who visited the bank tested positive for the virus.

Following a spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases, a weeklong lockdown has been imposed in the Capital Complex since Monday evening.

Along with Capital Complex which consists of Itanagar, the state capital, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa, Doimukh is also under complete lockdown

With a total of 91 active cases, the Capital Complex has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases in the state.

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the state till Wednesday was 176. While 109 people have recovered from the virus, two have died of Covid-19 in the state so far.
