Residence of person who tested positive for COVID-19 from Pynthor sealed; contact tracing on; 23 high-risk cases traced, number to increase
Shillong: After two people — out of the 41 from Shillong who attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort in Khanapara — tested positive for covid-19, the Meghalaya health department along with health minister visited Pynthor locality to seal the building.
Director of health services Dr Aman War, accompanied by health minister AL Hek, visited Pynthor on Wednesday along with other officials. While one is a resident of Pynthor and the other a resident of Lachumiere, both the positive patients have already been shifted to the Civil Hospital.
The residence of the person from Pynthor was sealed after locals complained that a few of the family members from that house have been coming out.
Addressing the media, Dr War informed that the team had gone to Pynthor since there was one positive case which had come out from the people who had attended the wedding ceremony at Greenwood Resort in Khanapara. From these, we have got two positive cases who had attended and are at Civil Hospital now.
“Contact tracing for both the two has been done. From the first person we got 23 high risk cases and samples have been collected and they have been asked to stay under quarantine but there will be much more,” said Dr War.
He added, “From the second positive case at Lachumiere, 21 high-risk cases have been traced and more can be expected since the team is still out there tracing.”
The health department is now working on contact tracing of the high-risk cases, since they have moved around Shillong.
The results of the 44 high-risk cases is awaited and will be out by Thursday.
