Of 644 COVID-19 cases in Nagaland, 341 are active and 303 have recovered; recovery rate in the state now stands at 47%
Kohima: Another 19 persons from Nagaland --10 from Mon, one from Kohima and eight from Tuensang -- tested positive for COVID-19, taking the state's tally to 644.
However, 60 more COVID-19 positive patients -- 59 from Peren and one from Kohima -- have recovered from COVID-19 and are under strict surveillance. With a total of 303 recovered cases, the recovery rate in the state now stands at 47%.
The total number of positive cases in the state spiked to 644 with the addition of 19 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of active cases are 341. Sinha informed that all positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals. As per the severity of symptoms, 338 active cases are asymptomatic, two active cases are mild, and one case is moderate.
Principal secretary home Abhijit Sinha informed that a total of 14,151 samples have been tested till Tuesday and the results of 13,493 samples have been received. Out of the 14,151 samples, 9,071 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), out of which 462 samples have tested positive.
In addition a total of 7,934 samples have also been tested by Truenat, out of which 211 samples have tested positive and were sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. Further, 7499 samples have tested negative, he informed.
Mmhomlumo Kikon, spokesperson for High Powered Committee (HPC), informed that the capacity of the BSL-2 Lab in Dimapur conducts approximately 150-170 tests per day, and presently about 150 tests on an average are being conducted and that the full capacity is being utilized. As for the BSL-3 lab in Kohima , approximately 250-300 tests are conducted per day, almost utilizing the full capacity.
Kikon also said that Nagaland was among the first states in the country to go for bulk purchase of Truenat machines for COVID-19 testing and the state has the highest number of Truenat machines registered with ICMR in the whole of the northeast region. Presently, 30 Truenat machines are installed at various health units in the state.
