All 12 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday evening are from Mon district; 2 patients recover
Kohima: Twelve more persons including nine frontline workers and three returnees from Mon district have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday evening taking the state's tally to 387 confirmed cases.
Thavaseelan K, deputy commissioner of Mon district told EastMojo that out of the 12 persons who tested positive on Saturday, 9 are police personnel posted at a quarantine centre. He said that the other three are returnees from outside the state; two from Chennai and one from Mizoram.
The 12 samples were tested positive for COVID-19 out of 29 samples that were sent to Dibrugarh in Assam for testing. Till Friday, 14 frontline workers from the state have tested positive for COVID-19 while in the line of duty.
Dr Nyanthung Kikon, nodal officer for IDSP, health and family welfare department told EastMojo that all 12 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 are asymptomatic.
Dr Kikon also said that the besides the nine police personnel who tested positive for COVID-19, the other three are returnees from outside the state.
Taking to twitter, health minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted: "Update! 12 new cases of COVID-19 +ve have been reported out of 29 samples received from Dibrugarh. All cases are from Mon QC.
The minister later tweeted that two persons from Dimapur have recovered from COVID-19.
Earlier on Saturday morning, four persons from Dimapur tested positive for COVID-19 which took the total number of confirmed cases to 375. However, with the 12 fresh cases, the total number of confirmed cases spiked to 387.
The total number of positive cases reported on Saturday is 16 out of which four are from Dimapur district and 12 from Mon district.
Recovery rate at 41%
An update from the health and family welfare department said that two more persons have recovered from COVID-19. The recovery rate in Nagaland as on Saturday is 41% with 164 recovered cases.
The total number of active cases in Nagaland now stands at 223 out of which five patients from Peren district are reported as mild symptomatic cases and the rest 218 positive cases are asymptomatic.
Nagaland has so far not reported any COVID-19 related death.
