Bishnupur: Two doctors and a nurse tested positive for COVID-19 in Bishnupur district, the first case of frontline workers being exposed to the coronavirus in Manipur on Monday, said sources.

As per sources, the three frontline workers were part of the medical team at Bishnupur COVID-19 care facility.

Their samples were tested positive at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at VRDL at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

All of them are in stable condition and are now being shifted to the COVID-19 care facility at JNIMS for further treatment, sources said.

Earlier, 64 more cases tested positive for COVID-19, including 29 women, on Sunday evening, of which 43 were tested at VRDLs at RIMS and the remaining 21 at JNIMS.

Of the 64 cases, 20 persons were from Kamjong, 18 from Kangpokpi, eight from Tamenglong, six from Kakching, three from Imphal West, two from Imphal East and one from Chandel district. They have all been shifted to COVID-19 care facilities in Imphal.

Meanwhile, another 18 persons undergoing treatment at JNIMS and RIMS have been discharged after they tested COVID-19 negative on RT-PCR test. The total number of recovered cases has now increased to 250 and active cases stand at 594, including the three frontline workers.

Altogether, the total number of confirmed cases is 844 in the state so far.
