With 11 more COVID-19 patients testing negative on Tuesday, the present recovery rate in the state stands at 57%
Kohima: Since the first case of COVID-19 recovery was reported in the state on June 6, the number of recovered cases have been increasing. 11 more persons recovered from COVID-19 on Tuesday, the present recovery rate is at 57%.
Of the 11 recent recovery cases, five are from Dimapur district hospital, four from AR Hospital in Dimapur and two from Kohima.
Out of a total of 179 COVID-19 cases, 103 persons have recovered from COVID-19 till Tuesday, making it the third consecutive day in which the number of recovered cases have surpassed active cases.
The recovery rate first surpassed the COVID-19 active cases on Sunday when the number of recovered cases rose to 88, leaving the number of active cases at 80--out of the total of 168.
Even as the total of COVID-19 cases spiked to 177 on Monday, 92 were recovered cases, and 85 were active cases. While two new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday morning taking the state's tally to 179 COVID-19 cases, 11 persons have reportedly recovered, leaving the number of active cases at 76.
Taking to twitter, Health minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted: "11 more patients have tested negative of COVID-19 in their second test.
5 from DH, Dimapur, 4 from AR Hospital, Dmp & 2 from Kohima. All patients are shifted to COVID-19 care centre for observation.
Update at 6:35 PM, 16th June 2020."
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Home Abhijit Sinha informed that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 hospitals. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 79 active cases are asymptomatic.
He informed that as per the distribution of the 179 cases by age, there are four cases between 0-17 years, 169 cases between 18-44 years, four cases between 45-64 years and two cases between 65-74 years.
As per the distribution of gender, there are 111 males and 68 females. Till date, a total of 6,987 samples have been tested and the results of 5,582 samples have been received, and 1,405 samples are awaited.
The BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has so far tested 3,607 samples out of the total of 6,987 samples, of which 135 samples tested positive, Sinha informed.
