Manipur touches 500 mark with 10 new COVID-19 positive cases

Imphal: Ten more persons, including seven women, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Tuesday, which marked 500 total confirmed cases in the state.

With this, the total active cases stands at 341 and 159 recovered. The recovery rate in the state has increased to 31.8 per cent, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

Of the latest 10 cases, six persons, all returnees from other states, are from Senapati and the remaining four are from Imphal West districts.

The are all shifted to COVID-19 Care facilities in Imphal for further treatment and they are stable.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like contact tracing and containment process are in place, sources said.

Since COVID-19 is a novel disease and new facts are emerging almost weekly, the state has initiated skills up-gradation through proper training and discipline for frontline workers, including doctors, staff nurses and paramedics.

So far, the state COVID-19 training team has trained at least 522 medical officers, 917 staff nurses, 349 allied healthcare providers, 902 auxiliary nurse midwives and 1,573 accredited social health activists, said Dr Mangang.
