COVID-19 cases would now be treated at JNIMS, COVID Care Centre at UNACCO School, Meitram and some district hospitals, says CM N Biren Singh
Imphal: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) will no longer admit new cases of COVID-19 as it would be kept as a general hospital.
From now onwards, those tested with COVID-19 would be treated at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), COVID Care Centre at UNACCO School in Meitram and some district hospitals, Singh said.
Along with health officials, Singh was on a inspection at the newly functional 100-bedded COVID Care Centre at Maitram in Imphal West.
At present, around 48 patients are being treated in the new COVID Care Centre and the government is considering to increase the capacity from 100 to 300 beds, officials said.
The centre will treat those patients with mild and asymptomatic cases.
As per an official statement, sufficient manpower has been deputed at the centre for proper care and treatment of patients. Recovery rate of patients in the state is also increasing.
Speaking to media persons, CM Singh also pointed out that lack of discipline among inmates and violation of safety guidelines are the main reasons for the rise of COVID-19 cases in Manipur.
