57 containment zones were declared in the district so far; however, only 36 remain active after no new cases of COVID-19 were detected in 21 such areas
Guwahati: Kamrup (Metropolitan) district got 9 new containment zones on Thursday, and one on Friday, till noon, taking it to 10 new containment zones in Guwahati amid rising number of COVID-19 cases. The district currently has 36 active containment zones.
As per the latest update from the office of Chief Executive Officer, DDMA, Kamrup Metro, ever since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Kamrup (metropolitan) district of Assam and Spanish Garden was notified as the first containment zone in Guwahati city on April 4, total 57 area were declared containment zones due to detection of COVID-19 cases.
The areas were sealed of and no unauthorised movement of individual or vehicles was permitted in such notified areas.
Subsequently, when no new cases of coronavirus were detected from 21 such notified places, the tag of containment zone was withdrawn. Enabling ease in movement and resumption of economic activities in those areas.
The notifies active containment zones are: Pandu railway New Colony; Betkuchi; Japorigog; Borbari; Bishnupur, Krishna Nagar; Dhirenpara; Pub-Sarania; Bathou Nagar, Geeta Mandir; Krishna Nagar, Gosala; Central Jail Premises, Lokhra; Indrapur Hill Top, near Medical College; Lichubagan, Hengerabari; Arihant Apartment, Panbazar; Syamkunj Apartment, Lakhinagar, RG Baruah Road; Hajongbori village, Chandrapur; Bhaskar Nagar, B-block, Fatasil; Sarbbhati; Athgaon; Hirapara village (Azara); Christian Basti, Guwahati; Bishnupur (Bharalumukh); Shantipur; Satgaon; Sankar Nagar, Lalganesh; Dhirenpara; Athgaon-II (SJ Road); Lamb road; Kushal Nagar, Bamunimoidan; Birubari; Authgaon Pukhuripar; Barsapara; Rupnagar; Netaji Vidyapith Rly HS School, Maligaon; Fatasil Chariali; Silpukhuri; and Housing colony, Ghoramora.
As per notification from the Minitry of Home Affairs regarding lockdown 5.0, the lockdown is extended till June 30 in all containment zones. All relaxations and phases of Unlock 1 are not applicable in such areas.
So far, Assam has reported 3,498 cases of which 1950 are active, 1537 discharged, 8 deaths and 3 migrated to other states.
