Imphal: A total of 31 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Thursday, taking the accumulative confirmed cases in the state to 342.
The total active cases in the state have now increased to 279.
The samples of the latest cases were tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.
Of the latest 31 cases, 13 each are from Imphal West and Tamenglong, two each from Kakching and Ukhrul, and the remaining one from Bishnupur district.
Most cases detected on Thursday are undergoing quarantine at their respective districts and they will be shifted at COVID-19 care facilities in Imphal, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.
Meanwhile, to avoid stigmatisation, especially among those recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr Mangang said that the probability of a discharged person becoming positive again is very low and such virus is usually non-viable.
They cannot infect other persons and, therefore, people discharged from hospitals should not be stigmatised, he said.
At present, altogether 64 persons have already been recovered and discharged from the hospitals in Manipur, including the first two patients detected in mid-March and April.
