Manipur: 63 more persons test COVID-19 positive, tally 272

Imphal: Another 63 returnees from other states tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur on Monday, taking the total confirmed cases in the state to 272.

Six more patients who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) have recovered. They were discharged after testing negative for COVID-19. The number of recovered patients has increased to 58, and actives cases stand at 214.

The total positivity rate in Manipur is 1.52 per cent, said additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang.

Of the total 63 cases, 39 samples were tested at Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and the remaining 24 at VRDL at RIMS.

Among the new 63 cases, 34 are from Bishnupur, the highest in a single in the district, another 18 from Kakching, two each from Ukhrul, Senapati and Imphal West and one each from Kangpokpi and Noney district.

The state health officials and concerned district administrations have already taken up necessary precautionary measures like contact tracing and containment process.

Earlier, 37 persons, including 26 Delhi returnees, were tested positive for novel coronavirus on Sunday night.
