Meghalaya: 1 more tests positive for COVID-19; state tally hits 31

Shillong: While Meghalaya recorded another COVID-19 case on Wednesday, taking the total number to 31 in the state, it also reported one recovery.

A resident of Meghalaya, who returned from Agra in Uttar Pradesh, tested positive for COVID-19.

During a media briefing held in Shillong, Meghalaya health minister AL Hek informed that the person is under quarantine in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district and is in stable condition.

The fresh cases that have been recorded in Meghalaya are of those returning from outside the state.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday informed that ae returnee who tested positive from West Garo Hills district on May 19, has tested negative for COVID-19.

The person had come from Tamil Nadu and was under institutional quarantine for 14 days after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

The total number of positive cases in Meghalaya now stands at 31. This includes 17 active cases, 13 recoveries and 1 death.

Meghalaya so far has 9,344 samples tested, of which 8,993 have tested negative. Results of 320 samples are awaited.
