West Bengal: State minister & wife test positive for COVID-19

This comes after domestic help working at minister’s place was found positive for COVID-19, following which samples of minister & family members were sent for tests

New Delhi: A minister in West Bengal tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday night, making it the first such case in chief minister Mamata Banerjee's cabinet.

West Bengal's fire services minister Sujit Bose is now undergoing home quarantine after he tested positive for the virus on Thursday night. His wife's test result has also come out positive for the virus.

This comes after a domestic help working at the minister's place was found positive for COVID-19, following which the samples of the minister and his family members were sent for tests.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, West Bengal recorded the biggest one-day spike of 344 cases, of which 87 were reported from Kolkata itself. The state's tally currently stands at 4,536 cases with 223 deaths.
