New Delhi: There was panic in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut after a troop of monkeys reportedly attacked a laboratory technician carrying test samples of suspected COVID-19 patients on Friday.

The incident took place on the premises of Meerut Medical College when the staffers of the institution were carrying samples collected for testing from three persons suspected to be infected by the deadly virus.

The monkeys, however, snatched the samples from the technicians before they could be tested and ran away.

Later, one of the monkeys was seen chewing the sample collection kits on top of a tree. Parts of those kits were then seen lying strewn on the ground.

Locals are now scared of COVID-19 infection as the monkeys could have carried the test samples to nearby areas.
