Assam reports 13 new COVID-19 cases; state tally soars to 170

Guwahati: Another 13 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam on Wednesday taking the state tally to 170 cases.

Giving a breakup of the new cases, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that while eight are from Hojai district, two are from Sonitpur, and one new case each from Kamrup Metro, Kamrup rural and Nagaon districts of Assam.

Informing about the same on Twitter, Sarma wrote, "Alert ~ 13 new cases of #COVID19 + confirmed. Break-up ~ 8 from Hojai; 2 from Sonitpur; 1 each from Kamrup Metro, Kamrup and Nagaon.

This comes merely within an hour when 7 COVID-19 positive patients from Assam were discharged, including Dr Likhithesh Das from GMCH, 2 from Jorhat Medical College & Hospital, and 4 from Silchar Medical College & Hospital.

Assam has so far reported 170 cases of which 115 are active, and 48 have been discharged, 4 deaths have been recorded and three persons migrated to other states.
