New case reported on Saturday is primary contact of deceased patient in Meghalaya. The person has now been shifted to Corona Care Centre in Shillong Civil Hospital
Shillong: Meghalaya on Saturday recorded another positive case bringing the state’s total COVID-19 cases to 13. Despite following all the isolation protocol, the patient tested positive.
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Saturday said, “We received the report today, and that one person was tested positive and in fact health condition of this particular person is stable.”
The new case reported on Saturday is the primary contact of the deceased case in the state. The person is one of the housekeepers at late Dr Sailo’s house.
Tynsong added that the person had immediately quarantined herself on April 14.
“After collecting the samples on April 16, the report was tested negative. We left no stones unturned, another test was done since these are the primary contacts. We have 181 people who are primary contacts and have been tested. Today, unfortunately, one of those close contacts tested positive. The patient has been transferred to the Corona Care Centre in Civil Hospital, Shillong.
Tynsong informed that the other active case will be tested on Monday again.
Meanwhile, the samples collected so far are 2,287, of which 2,178 have tested negative. The results of 96 others are awaited. Of the total 13 positive cases, Meghalaya has two active cases, 10 have recovered and one died.
