8 family members of Meghalaya ‘index case’ found negative for COVID-19 in second retest; 2 others who are being treated in Shillong found negative in 1st retest
Shillong: Meghalaya is now close to being COVID-19 free, with eight family members of the index case showing negative again in the second retest, informed chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Twitter.
Earlier, taking to Twitter, the CM had announced that two other positive cases who are being treated at Shillong Civil Hospital tested negative on Thursday. “They are in the process of recovery. They will have to be tested again after 24 hours as per protocol to declare them as recovered,” Sangma said.
East Khasi Hills, which was flagged as red zone after recording 12 positive COVID-19 cases, may soon look at turning into an orange zone, with over a week of no new cases.
Earlier, 16 family members of the index patient were tested and all tested negative. The 16 included the eight who tested positive for COVID-19.
