Assam Forest Employees' Association (Kamrup) have extended helping hand to around 150 underprivileged families living in the Assam-Meghalaya border areas through distribution of essential food items among them.
◾Rural areas: all shops, except those in shopping malls are allowed to open.
◾Urban areas: all standalone shops, neighbourhood shops & shops in residential complexes are allowed to open.
◾Sale by e-commerce companies will continue to be permitted for essential goods only
◾Sale of liquor & other items continues to be prohibited as specified in the National Directives for COVID-19 management.
◾These shops will not be permitted to open in areas, whether rural or urban, which are declared as Containment Zone by respective States/ UTs.
"Chief Secretary, Assam has informed that no relaxation of ongoing lockdown has yet been decided by the Govt of Assam like opening of shops, beauty parlours etc. A decision in this regard will be taken only on 27 April 2020," said a tweet by DIPR Assam.
The total number of coronavirus cases in India reached 24,506 on Saturday (April 25), as of 8 am, with the death toll standing at 775.
According to the latest updates provided by the Union health ministry, there are 18,668 active cases with 775 deaths so far in the country. As many as 5,062 patients have been cured or discharged and one has migrated.
