Guwahati: Assam government has allowed inter-district movement on April 25, 26 and 27, for those stranded in different districts within the state and in “special” cases, informed health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Sarma informed that those who are homebound or office-bound can move in the three-day window after getting the required permission from the deputy commissioner of the district concerned and in compliance with the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) guidelines.

For those looking to go back and have their own vehicles, or in case of patients, they can request the DC, who will subsequently issue them with a pass.

In case of workers heading to workplaces, their contractors need to get permission from the DC and accordingly arrange for their transportation.

For those who do not have any medical reasons or a private car, like students or those who were out for visit in a different district, ASTC buses will ply on certain designated roads. They can call 104 and some transportation will be arranged for them. However, it will be prioritised on a case-to-case basis.

Sarma said that the respective DCs will decide on the basis of individual merit for whom to issue pass. Also, a district-wise list of contact numbers and e-pass system was issued.

All the travellers will go through medical test immediately after reaching home and, if required, will remain in 14-day quarantine.
