Easter amid COVID19 lockdown: Nagaland governor, CM send greetings
Kohima: Sending the message of hope and love amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Nagaland governor RN Ravi and chief minister Neiphiu Rio extended Easter greetings to the people of the state.
Ravi said that as the world celebrates the day in memory of the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ, one must remember the day as it symbolises ‘hope’. “Hope for a new beginning following a sacrifice made out of pure love,” he said, referring to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and his resurrection which “demonstrates victory of love over hate”.
“This year, we are celebrating Easter under the shadow of global pandemic COVID-19, which has compelled a country-wide lockdown. Let us celebrate this pious and joyous occasion at home with our family, let us do things little different this year by making it a one of a kind celebration with just family. There are plenty of ways to make it special,” he said.
He urged all to remember the entire humanity in our prayers, he expressed hope that the spirit of Easter will prevail and COVID-19 shall be defeated.
Chief minister Neiphiu Rio through a message on Saturday evening acknowledged the tireless efforts made by the front line workers, the government officials, various organisations, village councils, media fraternity and all stakeholders and further encouraged them to fight the virus. As the world battles the deadly COVID-19, Rio said: “We must put up a united front to fight this common enemy.”
“I am aware that emotions are high and there is a great sense of unease everywhere. In such a situation, misinformation can take hold. I request each one of you to stay informed through the official notifications and orders and to disseminate these verified information to all fellow citizens,” he said.
Further, with the commemoration of Christ’s triumph over death, he said: “With the message of renewed hope and love, let us thank and praise God for sparing our people thus far from this dreaded COVID-19 pestilence. Let us also rededicate, recommit, and reprioritise our lives to God. Be sensitised, sanitise, stay home and stay safe. God bless!”
