Guwahati: While the nation is religiously following the 21-day lockdown, unidentified miscreants broke into a wine shop and looted liquor worth several lakhs of rupees in Assam's Sivasagar district on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, a wine shop in Station Chariali area of Sivasagar town was looted and miscreants did away with a huge quantity of liquor. They also took money from the cash box.

The owner, Shailadhar Baruah, told media persons that when he visited his wine shop on Tuesday evening, he saw that someone had broken into his shop and looted liquor bottles. They had also taken away about Rs 10,000 cash from the cash box, said reports.

He immediately informed the local police, who later arrived to investigate the matter.

The case is currently being investigated by the police.
