New Delhi: A 14-month-old baby boy, who had tested positive for coronavirus on April 5, died of multiple organ failure in Gujarat's Jamnagar district on Tuesday. The toddler is the youngest patient to succumb to coronavirus in Gujarat and possibly in India.
The toddler was put on a ventilator soon after he was admitted to a government hospital in Jamnagar. He passed away at around 4 pm on Tuesday.
The first and lone case of COVID-19 infection in Jamnagar district so far, the boy was the youngest to be infected by the deadly virus in Gujarat.
Since the samples of his parents have tested negative for the virus, the authorities are trying to ascertain the source of his infection. Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, parents of the baby work as labourers at factories and have no recent travel history. As a preventive measure, they have been kept under quarantine.
Moreover, Dared village, where the couple resides, has also been put under complete lockdown.
