Itanagar: The capital complex district administration in Itanagar has announced imposition of curfew under Section 144 of CrPC from 3:30 pm to 8:30 am every day from April 7 to 14.

The order was issued on Monday in order to regulate the unnecessary movement of people and vehicles in and around capital complex during the lockdown period due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

During the curfew, no unauthorised vehicles, including two-wheelers and public, will be allowed to move on the roads except essential services and those who are otherwise permitted. The assembly of more than three persons will not be allowed except for medical purposes, read the order from district magistrate (DM) Komkar Dulom.

All the public should remain indoors and people sitting outside their building premises and walking on the streets are strictly prohibited during the curfew, the order said.

The opening of ration, grocery and vegetable shops in various sectors will be from 9 am to 3 pm. However, social distancing should be maintained, said the DM’s order.

The wholesalers in the main market shall not directly sell to the consumers. The retailers shall buy from the wholesalers and sell to the consumers in the respective sector markets. The vegetable vendors will continue to sell in the sectors only. They will not be allowed to sale in the main market areas, the order said.

The order from the DM for curfew in the capital came after people were not seen obeying the previous order announced on March 28 to restrict all commercial activities from 9 am to 3 pm, read the order.
