Manipur COVID-19 patient tests negative again, to be released soon
Imphal: Manipur's first COVID-19 patient -- a 23-year-old girl from Imphal West -- on Monday tested negative for coronavirus for the second time.
As per health minister L Jayantakumar Singh, the girl is now completely free of COVID-19. “It’s a huge achievement for the whole medical department in general and the doctors and staff of JNIMS in particular,” the minister said on his Facebook page.
Let us continue to fight and endeavour more to ensure that our state is completely free from COVID-19 spread, he added.
As per sources, the state government is now forming a committee to discuss and discharge the girl from hospital as soon as possible. Another source informed that the girl is likely to be discharged on Monday itself.
The girl, a resident of Imphal West, has a travel history to London. She was admitted at JNIMS on March 25 after complaining of severe fever and dry cough.
Meanwhile, the Nizamuddin religious meet returnee who tested positive for coronavirus, the second case in the state, is also reportedly in good condition.
So far, as many as 1,87,488 incoming passengers have been screened at entry points, including Imphal Airport. Of the 136 total samples tested, 16 suspected cases as on April 4 are in hospital for observation to prevent probable spread of the infectious disease in the state.
