Guwahati: With an increase of 525 cases, India saw the highest spike in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the country's total to 3,072 cases, including 2,784 active cases, 213 cured/discharged/migrated people and 75 deaths.

The Union ministry of health and family welfare and ICMR at a press brief on Saturday shared data that shattered the popular belief that young people are immune or less likely to get infected.

Giving a break-up of COVID-19 cases, the data showed that those in the age bracket of 0-20 were least affected with 9% cases and those in 21-40 age group the highest contracted with 42% cases. Up to 33% of cases were in the age bracket of 41-60, and 17% above 60 years.

However, it mustn't be ignored that India has a majority of young population, thereby making it the most prone to contracting the virus.
