Nagaland: 2 who visited Markaz in Delhi test negative for COVID-19

As of 4 pm today, 40 samples from state sent for testing, of which 32 have been found to be negative for coronavirus aka COVID-19; results of 8 are awaited

Kohima: Amid positive COVID-19 reports of persons who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi, the Nagaland government on Thursday said that two persons from the state who attended the event had tested negative.

An update from the DIPR said that in regard to the tracking of individuals from the state of Nagaland about whom information were received with the possibility of having attended the religious congregation or have been in close vicinity of that place, it was found that 48 persons were traced, of which 20 were from outside Nagaland.

It said that of the remaining 28, only two were found to have attended the congregation and that those persons are at the state’s quarantine facilities. It added that the samples of the two persons were also sent for testing and they were found negative.

For the remaining 26 individuals, it said that the persons were found to be in the vicinity of that area where the congregation was held or had just crossed that location. It informed that the persons are under home quarantine and are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile as of 4 pm on Thursday, 40 samples were sent for testing, of which 32 samples have been found to be negative and the result of 8 samples are awaited. While 5,350 persons are cumulatively under quarantine, 3,561 are under quarantine and 1,780 out of it.

Despite the ban on tourists, 20 foreigners are reportedly in the state on Thursday as compared to 10 on Wednesday. Up to 1,667 persons have so far been screened. The state has identified 173 isolation beds so far.
