Guwahati: With 18 days of the 21-day lockdown still left, people are trying to find various ways to keep themselves busy. Some are into home-workouts, others trying to diversify their range of hobbies. However, why not take this sweet perfect time to just relax, sit back and do something that almost everyone loves: binge-watching?
Now, when was the last time that you actually took the time to watch movies in a row? It would be either one-movie night (as you got work or classes the next morning) or maybe an occasional visit to the movie halls right.
With OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix on your palms, let us at least take one day to binge-watch five award-winning movies.
Parasite (Amazon Prime)
The movie directed by Bong Joon-Ho made history by being the first non-American film too with the Best Picture award at the Oscars 2020. This movie is a take on the greed and class discrimination between two families, as the impoverished family stumbles upon a wealthy family and invades their household with trickery and of course greed. A beautifully scripted movie that is worth the watch.
Article 15 (Netflix)
This movie featuring Ayushmann Khurrana at the lead is inspired by real-life events and has won three trophies at the 65th Filmfare Awards. Two girls are missing (who were later found dead) in a remote village where Khurrana, a police officer was transferred. The movie showcases the dark and grimy truth of the Indian caste system, something which is still prevalent in various parts of the country.
The Irishman (Netflix)
Now a binge-watch movie episode is not complete without this movie, and most movie buffs have probably seen this one already. This 3 hour 30 minute movie directed by Martin Scorsese takes us back to the time of Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance and the Kennedy Administration from a real-life hitman, Frank Sheeran’s perspective.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (Amazon Prime)
A movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt directed by Quentin Tarantino is already enough to make any movie buff watch it. The movie has bagged various awards in both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. The movie talks about actor Rick Dalton who gained fame and fortune with some hits in his career but is now struggling to find meaningful work in Hollywood and hence spends most of his time drinking with his friend and stunt double Cliff Booth.
Marriage Story (Netflix)
This movie is about a stage director and his actor wife’s struggles through a grueling divorce. A Noah Baumbach masterpiece that captures how two well-meaning people, each caring for the other, will do things that they would have never dreamt about before. Giving the feel of a regular love story on the outside but a nasty reality on the inside. It is difficult to describe this masterpiece and so the only solution is to actually watch and feel it.
