Bhandari Block Task Force writes to Wokha DC, highlights urgent requirement for essential facilities at quarantine centre for COVID-19 at 7 NAP Bn Hospital
Kohima: In a letter addressed to the deputy commissioner of Wokha on Thursday, the ADC and chairman of Bhandari Block Task Force necessitated urgent requirement for essential facilities at quarantine centre for COVID-19 at 7 NAP Battalion Hospital.
The letter said that the 7 NAP Battalion hospital, which has been designated as quarantine facility for Bhandari on coronavirus (COVID - 19), lacks “basic essentials to house suspected cases or even infected persons”.
It also said that as thermal screening is done at Bhandari check gate which is the principal entry point to Wokha district and to neighbouring districts, “the possibility of encountering suspected cases or even infected cases is very high”.
Considering the situation, it said that there is “urgent need to set up of basic infrastructure, which otherwise, puts the entire frontline workers and lot of people to extreme risk”.
It enlisted the need for basic essentials which include personal protective equipment (PPEs), oxygen cylinders and masks, hand sanitizers, and so on.
A separate letter dated March 23 also requested for “urgent assistance” of basic protective gears for the frontline workers performing thermal screening at Bhandari police check post. This letter also highlighted that the community health centre at Bhandari “does not have requisite stock” of the basic necessities. It had then appealed for urgent requirement of basic essentials including surgical masks and gloves, sanitizers, PPE suits.
