Rs 2 lakh sanctioned for displaced Nagas each in Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati amid coronavirus pandemic; disaster management receives Rs 20 lakh
Kohima: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday announced that Rs 38 lakh has been sanctioned to the district commissioners and medical departments for exigency expenses to combat the deadly cornavirus (COVID-19).
From the chief minister’s relief fund, Rio said that Rs 38 lakh has been sanctioned for all the deputy commissioners of all districts and medical departments to combat the spread of COVID-19. He also sanctioned Rs 20 lakh to the state’s disaster management authority and Rs 2 lakh each to the Naga Students’ Union Bangalore, DRC Nagaland House Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati to aid displaced Nagas in the cities.
Taking to Twitter, Rio made the announcement as he wrote: “From the CM Relief Fund ₹38L is sanctioned to all the DCs of #Nagaland & Medical Dept. for exigency expenses to combat #COVID2019. ₹20L to @StateDisaster, ₹2L each to @nsubangalore, DRC Nagaland House Delhi, Kolkata & Guwahati for exigency expenses to help displaced Nagas.”
This announcement comes after the chief minister held another round of video-conference with the deputy commissioners of all the districts on Thursday to assess the ongoing situation with regard to COVID-19.
The Nagaland Civil Service Association has also reportedly donated Rs 50,000 each to all district administrations.
